Oasis Guitarist Wears Original Penguin Ratner Windbreaker For Shock of Lightning Cover
Yes, Oasis have a new single, The Shock Of The Lightning, out on September 29, it’s written by Noel and features Liam on vocals. Yes, they will release their 7th album, Dig Out your Soul on October 6 and you can see the full track listing and original artwork for the cover at NME. You might be interested to know that the album features tracks written by all the band members, is produced by Dave Sardy, (who returns after his work on Don’t Believe the Truth in 2005), was recorded at Abbey Road and mixed in L.A. And, yes, Noel is going for a whole new sound and you can hear him talking about all that in the clip at the end of this piece.
But in terms of style, what we can’t help but be interested in right here right now, is this photo taken last week during rehearsals for the Oasis Global tour due to kick off in Seattle on 26 August. The pic, we hear, will be the cover for the new single and features rhythm guitarist and songwriter, Gem Archer, wearing the Original Penguin Ratner Windbreaker. This is a true design classic with an authentic retro look and, the best news is, it will be available at Scotts this coming August. So whether you want to keep out the late summer breezes or the early autumn gusts, you can do it with style in the next few weeks. Zip fronted in nylon poplin, this jacket has a long list of design detailing - contrast ribbed inner collar, button and tab closures at the cuffs, zip pockets, drawstring hem and the traditional penguin logo embroidered on the chest. If you’re buying an autumn jacket, buy this one.
Gem Archer joined Oasis from Heavy Stereo in 1999, after Noel and Bonehead had their big bust up. Originally joining as a rhythm guitarist, Gem was apparently paid a typical session fee of £85 for his first few gigs with the band. Since then though his role has developed to sometimes lead guitarist, songwriter and most importantly, mate and calming influence to Noel – we think they may be paying him a bit more these days! And just to show what a small world it is and that all things connect in the world of music, fashion and blogging - Gem Archer plays guitar and keyboard on Echos around the Sun, a track on 22 Dreams – the new album from Paul Weller, who’s just promoted his new book in the store of our friend, Paul Smith.
Over to Noel…
